More than 50 years of Vreugdenhil Young Plants

In over 50 years, Vreugdenhil has evolved to become the business it is today and that’s something we are proud of. See our highlights below!

1971

The company M.P. Vreugdenhil and J. Vreugdenhil is founded. Brothers Thijs and Sjaak start a plant nursery together

1974

Brother Jaap also joins the business, which is symbolically represented in the logo on the truck: the 3 Vs

1978

The plant nursery expands significantly at Noord-Lierweg 35a

1982

A major innovation for horticulture in the Netherlands and for Vreugdenhil: concrete floors and the ebb and flow system

1991

The logo is changed and becomes blue; the retro colours are outdated

1993

Vreugdenhil starts rooting cuttings as starting material

1995

Martin Uittenbroek, the new managing director, receives a warm welcome

1996

Celebrations during Vreugdenhil’s 25th anniversary party

2004

The office building is being extended and the canteen renewed

2005

Plantenkwekerij De Merel (circa 5 hectares) in De Lier is taken over

2006

The first official delivery of the ‘Pick your own tomato’

2011

Vreugdenhil concludes a close partnership with Klugt De Lier/Bleiswijk

2012

A major new construction project of over 10 hectares gets underway at Noord-Lierweg 15. The entire project will be completed in 2016.

2016

Vreugdenhil makes history with the 45th anniversary celebration ’Histoury’

2017

New rental location construction project Kweekvijver in Naaldwijk.

2020

Martin Uittenbroek hands over his tasks to new managing director Eric in ‘t Veld in the Vreugdenhil-Klugt combination.
